Η κλιμάκωση στη Μέση Ανατολή πέρασε σε μια νέα, εξαιρετικά επικίνδυνη φάση. Σύμφωνα με αναφορές του Middle East Spectator, το Ιράν προχώρησε σε “scramble” (άμεση απογείωση) μαχητικών αεροσκαφών, κάτι που δεν είχε κάνει έως τώρα σε όλη τη διάρκεια των αμερικανικών και ισραηλινών βομβαρδισμών,.

Αμερικανικά ελικόπτερα (έρευνας και διάσωσης μάχης – SAR) εισήλθαν σε ευαίσθητες περιοχές αναζητώντας τους δύο πιλότους του F-15E που καταρρίφθηκε.
Η Τεχεράνη, βλέποντας την αμερικανική παρουσία τόσο κοντά στα σύνορά της ή σε αμφισβητούμενο εναέριο χώρο, αποφάσισε να απαντήσει απογειώνοντας από τις υπόγειες βάσεις μαχητικά αεροσκάφη.
Στο μεταξύ το ποσό το οποίο προς φέρει σε όποιον Ιρανό προσφέρει πληροφορίες για τους δύο Αμερικανούς πιλότους που αγνοούνται προσδιορίστηκε στα 60.000$.
